 Carol Service

Well done to all involved in our Christmas Carol Service which took place in St. Patrick’s Church on Wednesday, December 20th. Our very talented school choir and musicians performed a wide repertoire of Christmas carols, many in two part harmony. Readings and prayers were delivered with great precision and fluency! Thanks to all who supported our collection for “Trim Meals on Wheels” on the night. A total of €750 was raised. It was a very memorable and proud occasion for St. Michael’s and certainly spread a lot of festive cheer.

Virtual Carol Service

This year we held our annual carol service but with a difference! We held a virtual carol service. We practised in the school yard, members of the choir recorded themselves singing at home and we filmed in locations surrounding the school. Congratulations to all the boys on a great performance and a big thank you to Ms. Gorry, Mr. Kilbride, Ms. Daly and Ms. Mulcahy for their work in putting the virtual service together. The service is available to watch here:

Visit to St. Joseph's

22 of our choir members visited St. Joseph’s Community Nursing Unit on Thursday the 17th of December to sing some Christmas carols for the residents. It was a lovely experience for the residents and pupils alike.

Tin Whistle

All mainstream pupils in St. Michael's learn how to play the tin whistle. We recommend purchase of the Tony Dixon "D" whistle and encourage pupils to practise for 10 minutes daily at home.

The choir sang "Cailín Alainn" and "Ríoga" in the Irish section of the competition and were delighted to win first place!  They also secured a first place finish with their fantastic performance of "We will Rock You" in the Music Theatre section.
